First Scrapbook

First Scrapbook

I have been wanting to venture into the world of Scrapbooking for ages now but the thought of facing a blank, 12×12 page really worried me! So, I decided to start a little smaller and worked on an 8×8 instead. This was given to my Mother-in-Law for Christmas 2007, I do believe she was quite...

Other embroidered cards

Other embroidered cards

I have taken many commissions over the years for embroidered cards, usually they’re personalised but sometimes I would just embroider a design I liked and then keep the card for a suitable occasion. The fabric I use varies, sometimes it’s just a cotton/poly mix and sometimes a felt-like material....

Embroidered Xmas Cards

Embroidered Xmas Cards

A couple of years ago I embroidered all my Christmas Cards – by machine, mostly, but some by hand. Unfortunately, I didn’t remember to photograph every single one of them, my overseas ones had already been posted (as had a whole bunch of UK ones) before

Engagement card

Engagement card

Both of my sons think that cards are a waste of time! What can I say….I thought I’d done a pretty good job of raising them but I guess I failed somewhere…. My younger son got engaged just before Christmas last year and I had to make a card even if  ‘he doesn’t do cards!’...

MojoMonday 77

MojoMonday 77

The challenge for this week can be seen at Mojo Monday – I think I will send this one to my sister as a thank you card. The main card base is a heavy, dark green textured card folded in half and stamped in red ink with a small, art deco stamp; an extra piece of the same was wrapped in a pretty silver...

Red, Black and Gold

Red, Black and Gold

At our Stamping Club we have the option to do some ‘homework’ – we’re given a challenge and then we describe how we made the cards at the next meeting. Some of them are really tricky, you don’t always feel inspired, but this theme – make a card using only red, black and gold...

Wildlife through my window

Wildlife through my window

We live in a lovely part of North Wales and have lots of fields surrounding our house. We enjoy watching all our visitors and thought I’d just mention a few of them here. For a couple of evenings we had the tubs of bird seed knocked over and the lids removed – they’re big, heavy tubs so...

Our Mackintosh bedroom

Our Mackintosh bedroom

If you can see the carpet at all on these photos then please ignore it! We did some major re-working in our house, added a corridor through the end of our bedroom, moved an en-suite loo into what was the old corridor, etc., etc, so the carpet was a real patchwork for a while until we finished all the...

Art Nouveau Canvasses

Art Nouveau Canvasses

My second set of canvasses were inspired by some lovely embroidery designs I got from Embroidery Library. Absolutely gorgeous designs but far too big to be embroidered on any articles of clothing – though they’d probably look really good on something like a shopping bag. Anyhow, I stitched...

Faces

Faces

Some time ago I was challenged to use ‘face stamps’ in a variety of ways. This one is a stamp from Rubbadubadoo, it was inked just once and therefore the images get more faded. I tore the paper round the three faces, coloured the edges with a darker shade of purple than the cardstock and...

Bathroom canvasses

Bathroom canvasses

I had bought a pack of painting canvasses some time ago and, having just finished decorating the en-suite in my new craft room (well, it can be a bedroom when we come to sell the house!) I decided I’d put these on the wall to complete the job. I thought I’d chronicle the whole process so...

Mojo Monday 76

Mojo Monday 76

This is my first attempt at a Mojo Monday Challenge – until this week I had never tried following a ‘sketch’ and now I’ve done two!  (The other one is called Challenge43 and is a DoCraft Forum one.) So, I made the basic card out of some heavy blue cardstock, trimmed down a little...
