Spyder

It’s been months since I blogged anything – so sorry. I have been crafting constantly though…well, except for when I’m out playing with my new toy which is taking up lots and lots of my ‘spare‘ time now. Nigel bought me a Can-Am Spyder for my birthday and I’m loving having my own wheels, I take every opportunity to go out on it and and find excuses to run errands constantly 🙂

Anyway, back to crafting – I recently ‘altered’ a plain, pine-framed mirror in a very grungy style and enjoyed doing it so much I decided to do it again for Millie. I hope she will like it enough to want to hang it in her new bedroom, it’s black and pink in there so it will fit in colour-wise at least.

Mirror

Mirror

The mirror I worked on was like this but a cream colour - this one will be next!

Starting point

I decided that, as it was for Millie, it should be pink - big mistake! Turned out rather too salmon-like.

Strange colour

I scrunched pink tissue under the pink paint to give some texture.

Tissue

Used plasterer's joint tape and buttons for texture.

More texture

...on the other edge.

Same stuff

Funky Foam shapes of hands and feet in various sizes.

Hands and Feet

More Funky Foam but this time the alphabet - I put one of each on it.

ABC’s

Close up

An old lamp shade was made of strings of clear beads - couldn't bring myself to throw it away so I cut some off and hot-glued them to the frame.

Beads

No pattern in mind, just randomly placed everything.

More beads

I then decided I really, really didn't like the pink so painted it all over with black. Sadly, you can't see any details now.

Change of colour

It's awfully hard to shoot a mirror but here it is laid on my desk completely blackened now.

All black

With a quick rub-over with Inka Gold you can magically see all the details again.

Inka Gold

I used 4 different colours of Inka Gold, this is before I removed the masking tape and cleaned it up.

All coloured
