70th CardI was asked to make a 70th card for a lady – the brief…..pink and girly! It was to be handed to the lady rather than posted which meant I could pile all sorts of embellishments on top and not worry too much about making a box for mailing it :).

The main focal image is from the freebie set from Creative Stamping magazine, I stamped the lady in the frame and coloured it with ProMarkers and a bit of Distress Ink. She is layered on pink card and then on a black scalloped die-cut. A little glitter pen makes her diamond choker sparkle nicely.

One of the smaller floral stamps from the same set was used to add the random pattern over the pink panel. I then cut out a square from the middle of this panel, embossed it with a floral embossing folder and raised the outer part like a frame on top of this. I edged the inner square with a black marker which unfortunately bled through the base card so I had to make a special inner to hide it! I say ‘special’ ‘cos it’s an 8×8 card so one piece of A4 paper wouldn’t fit the inside of the card, I had to extend it with an extra panel and some sticky ribbon!

I chose three flowers from my stash which I had made earlier with Spellbinder templates, added a green flourish and a couple of heart-shaped stick-pins along with a small ribbon rose and dotted them with some Stickles for a bit more bling.

You can see the heart-shaped pins on this close-up.

The way the outer portion of the pink panel is raised above the cut-out square gives a faux frame look to the card

Faux Frame

I printed the verse and the flowers onto pink paper and then overlapped them to fit the inside of the card. The sticky ribbon disguised the join.

Two flatish flowers and one rolled one (from a thick silver fabric) on top of the flourish - square pink gems in the centres - the card was incredibly heavy!
