Mike has thrown out this challenge for the Michael Strong Group: “Our next challenge begins with the Autumnal Equinox on September 23. The theme is “Harvest Time” and you may use any stamps you wish for this card making challenge which will end on Halloween, October 31. The prize to the winners will be a set of my new Holiday stamps. Good luck and have fun!”
Now, I am usually last-minute with these challenges but not this time – I’ve finally finished early 🙂
The details: it’s an 8″x8″ white card base which I coloured the edges of with orange distress ink. The main backing piece is the cover from a jewellery catalogue (Glogau Gold – gorgeous Welsh Gold pieces). I always save these catalogues to use the fabulous arty layouts in this way, they use a lot of ‘nature’ in them and therefore there’s always lots of leaves/ground/water etc. plus they are really good quality paper. 🙂
I cut several leaves with both Sizzix and Spellbinder dies in various papers, the embossed panel is highlighted with gilding wax in various colours and there are two layers of ribbon across the corner. The pumpkins are freebie images which Mike gave us after the blog-hop and I printed them in a few different sizes before choosing which two to use. They are coloured with ProMarkers in browns, oranges and gold and – although you can’t tell from the photos – they are clear embossed with UTEE and are therefore very, very shiny.
