So, I came downstairs one morning to find a note from my son….”Would you be able to make a card for the wedding please?”….the wedding was the following afternoon! Kids eh 😉
He said that it ‘didn’t have to be mega’ but I disagreed – can’t let any card of mine out of the door if it’s not ‘mega’ (whatever that means!!).
The invitation (shown below) was black and white so I decided to echo that in the card I made. I started with an 8″ x 8″ white card base and the first, large layer is a piece of black plasticised card rescued from an old file folder. I embossed it with Spellbinders Garden Lattice, A4 M-Bossabilities™ folder and trimmed it down to fit the card. The next layer is a piece of white card which went through the Grand Calibur with the Reverence M-Bossabilities™ folder and lightly sponged with silver ink.
Across the top of those two base layers I added some silver ribbon and some black, sparkly net ribbon (both courtesy of CostCo), folded the wired ends around the back of the black card and taped it all down to the card base.
The sentiment is stamped in black Versafine and embossed with a clear powder, the little flourishes both stamped and embossed with silver. I then layered the dies from the Radiant Rectangles set over the words and cut it out with the GC. I used wax paper between the die and the card and had to run it through several times to get all the parts cut properly – these intricate dies are not for the faint-hearted!
I cut out by hand a piece of matt, silver paper (drew around the largest die to get the shape) and embossed it for textural interest before mounting the large frame on top. It’s hard to see but it is raised on foam squares – lots and lots of those tiny ones which take forever to put on and even longer to get all the little top bits off!!
As a matter of interest….why don’t the manufacturers of these make the backing paper a different colour to the foam itself? It would make it sooooo much easier to see which ones you’d done.
The sentiment layer is also raised on foam dots with the one in-between left lower.
The silver butterfly and three silver hearts were added to reflect the image on the invitation. I do hope they like it, my son and his girlfriend certainly did 🙂
