My husband’s aunt and uncle are about to celebrate 60 years together! Wow, some achievement.
I’m not really very good at Bookatrix cards but thought I’d have another go for this special occasion. There are a few more photos of this and another card for the same event below.
I kept the colours pretty muted but also tried to make it shiny to reflect the fact that it’s for a diamond anniversary. The front and back layers are done with double-sided pearlised card and the middle with a dark brown pearlescent. I edged with peel-off strips and corners and set some eyelets to match the stamping. I stamped the hearts with a purple ink and used some beautiful white and silver wired ribbon around the middle. The photo is blown up from an original wedding photo, we cut off the rest of the wedding party to just concentrate on the happy couple. I then made a box to match with some ‘diamonds’ in the corners.
My Mother-in-Law asked me to make her a card for the same occasion, (this is her sister and brother-in-law) so I tried to think of something different and yet still special, I hope she likes it.
I used a lovely linen-look pearlescent card for the body and folded it so it will stand up without doing a ‘bambi’ (you know how heavy cards folded this way always end up flat!!) and used another wired ribbon around the front of it. I ran some stencils through my Impress machine using core-card which I then sanded to reveal the pink inside. These were mounted onto silver card and dots of glue and glitter used to brighten it up. The doves I thought were cute and the two hearts seemed suitable for the occasion so I filled the holes with glaze and stuck a couple of diamonds in there. I also used diamond brads here and there.
The inside of the card is lined with a lovely black handmade paper to hide the brads mainly – although you can’t really see inside – and I made a tag out of the same paper and backed it with plain paper so that a sentiment can be written on there.
