Well, I totally forgot my bother-in-law’s birthday! Daft thing was, I had the idea already in mind, knew which of my new Flippin Stamps sets I was going to use etc. – just forgot to get on with it. So, in one hurried evening I made this for him. He is an avid gardener and makes his own ales too so this stamp is perfect for him. I’m still practising with my ProMarkers so the colouring of it took me longer than anything else.
I stamped the ‘front’ and then the ‘back’ onto some smooth white cardstock and coloured them both at the same time so I’d get both sides looking the same. The gate-fold card works nicely for this double-sided design, I wanted a change from mounting it on acetate as is expected so I used DSST on both pieces for the part that touches the card, half-peeled it ready to stick down firmly and then used a quick-drying wet glue to hold the outer edges in the right place. Slipped the two-sided ‘topper’ over one edge of the green base and then pulled off the rest of the DSST when I’d got it where I was happy.
The sentiment included with the stamp set was stamped onto the same cardstock as before and cut out with a sizzix die, the two main ones having been Spellbindered earlier. Also in the stamp set is the veggie border which I embossed down one side, added a few peel-offs and that was the outside done.
Peter is also a cat lover so I used a cute holographic sticker on the inside and then found this pathetic, apologetic-looking kitten with the cupcake for the inside (I’m begging for forgiveness myself really 🙂 ). The sentiment is cute too, I’ll show a close-up so you can read it.
