The completed card

MS Sketch May

Once more I’ve made a card for the challenge at the Michael Strong group. A simple sketch this time and I’ve used Hetty’s Coffee Cup stamp set to make my entry.

I’ll add descriptions to the photos so if you click the thumbnails you’ll get some information but someone asked me how I’d made the coffee in the cup so I’d better describe it here. The coffee cup was stamped onto the chequered paper and then cut out and mounted onto a square of watercolour paper. I then used AquaMarkers to fill the coffee cup with a milky brown and ProMarkers to add some swirls of darker brown to give it a hint of movement. The ‘steam’ stamped on the background paper was highlighted with a Sakura Glaze pen which I continued down into the coffee – it does shine nicely in real-life.

This is the sketch we had to work with

Clip

The base card is a heavy, dark-coffee coloured card, a layer of dark blue with corner accents of light-blue check, and embossed layer of the same checked paper with the 'steam' stamp used in the centre, flat area

Showing all the layers

The embossing folder has these two swirls with a flat area in the middle, I added a little Sakura Glaze in the loops and some blobs of glue around the edges of the layers

Embossed detail

The cup was stamped onto the darker checked paper and cut out, coffee added as described earlier – I just wish now that I'd put another matting layer behind the square of watercolour paper!

This does let you see the sparkle a bit !
