Another birthday card for my Mother-in-Law – this time she’s 92!
I tried something a little different here by using a regular-sized embossing folder on an 8×8 card base. The card itself is a gorgeous shimmery stock – you might see that in some of the photos – and the embossing worked surprisingly well I thought.
I anchored the tree to the ground with ‘hills’ sponged-on using various green inks and lightly highlighted the tree in green. The butterfly trees are from the Essence of Nature set by Chocolate Baroque and I coloured all the little butterflies with ProMarkers and added some Stickles for sparkle here and there.
The foliage at the bottom is from the same stamp set – as is the sentiment – and the butterfly is cut out of a designer paper – I’m not sure I’d use one with lines if I do this again!
My son has also had another birthday – he doesn’t really like cards but he commented favourably on this when he opened it. He was Skyping with us at the time he opened it so – instead of him being across the other side of the world (California!) – it seemed he was in the room with us :). Here’s a link to the stamp I used and also one for the embossing folder.
