Card for Millie

Card for Millie

It was mid-September when I last posted – personal stuff has been getting in the way of blogging but…..I have still been creating 🙂

Michael Strong challenged his followers to create a card to celebrate his Grand-daughter’s birthday so I used the occasion to make one for my Grand-daughter Millie. I used the ‘Lily’ stamp he designed and made it into a panel which I cut out using a decorative rectangle Nestie and mounted that onto gold card. I used the same gold card to cut out a butterfly and some wings for ‘my little angel’ 😉

The ‘child’ was cut out with another Spellbinder die and she is holding peel-off balloons. I’ll add a close-up of that gorgeous butterfly:

Sketch 45 Challenge

Another Michael Strong sketch challenge I entered – click the thumbnails for more details.

This is the sketch we had to work from.

Sketch 45

I embossed an 8x8 card base with a Grand Impressability and coloured it lightly with purple ink. The first layer is lilac vellum cut out with a Label Nestie (can't remember the number, sorry) and that was likewise embossed.

My interpretation

A pink doily was used here - misted with purple to change the colour. M/S cloisonne circle was stamped, embossed with gold and cut out with a fancy die. The sentiment is a peel-off on the vellum 'Fancy Tag'.

A small gold star was clear embossed and stamped into with the M/S stamp used previously and then glued onto a larger one (four times).

Stamp Club ‘Homework’

We have a Show ‘n Tell at stamp club – it’s not mandatory but I do try to take part if I can. This time it was to use flowers somewhere on the card – and to make them ourselves preferably.

This shows the finished card - 8x8 base with a black layer; green decorative paper layer overstamped with flowers; along the bottom is a die-cut border lightly inked to show the flowers.

Flowery Card

I had vowed not to buy any more ribbon but when I was shopping in CostCo I found this lovely wide, black, sparkly stuff which just jumped into my cart!

I die-cut loads of flowers from decorative paper and then proceeded to hide the decorative bit by spraying with glimmer mist! I also aded some sparkles with Stickles. They are mounted onto a fancy oval die cut and then a plain oval one cut from Coredinations card and lightly sanded to show the green core.

I didn't have an 'occasion' in mind for this card so I added a universal sentiment stamped and layered onto a 'Fancy Tag' cut from the same black card used for the layering.
