So, I decided to start a little smaller and worked on an 8&#215;8 instead.</p>
<p>This was given to my Mother-in-Law for Christmas 2007, I do believe she was quite touched when she opened it! I had previously taken charge of her old photo album – the photos were stuck in with sellotape across the corners in a lot of cases and many were ripped so I used the scanner to copy them and inserted these copies into the album (mostly) rather than the originals. The album<span id="more-1112"></span> is a lovely green and burgundy, velvet-like fabric and is post bound so I can add extra pages if necessary.</p>
<h6>The front photo</h6>
<div id="attachment_1114" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_3" rel="attachment wp-att-1114" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3317.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1114" title="img_3317" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3317-150x150.jpg" alt="Front photo" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Front photo</p></div>
<div id="attachment_1168" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_4" rel="attachment wp-att-1168" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_33172.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1168" title="img_33172" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_33172-150x150.jpg" alt="Front close up" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Front close up</p></div>
<p>This shows my parents and my in-laws at the wedding of my niece at Selby Abbey in Yorkshire. We were living in California at that time and came over for a month&#8217;s holiday staying in a private hotel in Scarborough. We had advertised for someone to house-swap with us so we had their hotel (not open for other guests!) and they stayed in our house over there. We used their car, they used ours. It worked incredibly well. Anyhow, the wedding was during that stay and our sons were pageboys dressed in kilts which seems to be a Mackintosh Family tradition!</p>
<h6>Page 1</h6>
<div id="attachment_1117" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_5" rel="attachment wp-att-1117" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3326.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1117" title="img_3326" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3326-150x150.jpg" alt="Family" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Family</p></div>
<p>With my Father-in-Law as a young man, a happy couple posing on the steps and my husband, Nigel (on the right) with his big brother, Neil, in his wedding kilt when he was a pageboy. I used the tartan ribbon as a nod to the family name.</p>
<h6>My Mother-in-Law</h6>
<div id="attachment_1118" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_6" rel="attachment wp-att-1118" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3325.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1118" title="img_3325" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3325-150x150.jpg" alt="Mother-in-Law" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Mother-in-Law</p></div>
<p>The right-hand page has some school photos – she was a school teacher for all her working life. One shows her with a class, the other with the staff. On the left-hand page, clockwise from the largest, is her parents; her mother and sisters; her future husband as a child (in the dress!); the two of them out with some friends and finally the only photo we&#8217;ve found from their wedding and the groom is stood at the back of the group with the bride nowhere to be seen!</p>
<h6>Changes</h6>
<div id="attachment_1121" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_7" rel="attachment wp-att-1121" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3320.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1121" title="img_3320" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3320-150x150.jpg" alt="Changes" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Changes</p></div>
<p>My Father-in-Law,  his two sons –  and then my two sons.</p>
<p>The &#8216;<em>changes</em>&#8216; shows Nigel as a child looking smart whilst going to the Grammar School, and perhaps not quite so smart as a student at Manchester University!</p>
<h6>Our Wedding</h6>
<div id="attachment_1130" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_8" rel="attachment wp-att-1130" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3322.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1130" title="img_3322" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3322-150x150.jpg" alt="Our Wedding" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Our Wedding</p></div>
<p>We took our boys down into a coal mine to show them a little of what it was like where their Grandad worked all his life.</p>
<p>Did we get married so long ago that colour photography hadn&#8217;t been invented? Actually, the photos that we do have were a little faded so I scanned them and made them black and white. We only had 16 people at our wedding (and that included us!) – parents and brothers &amp; sisters.</p>
<h6>Grandad</h6>
<div id="attachment_1152" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_9" rel="attachment wp-att-1152" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3329.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1152" title="img_3329" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3329-150x150.jpg" alt="Then and Now" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Then and Now</p></div>
<div id="attachment_1131" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_10" rel="attachment wp-att-1131" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3331.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1131" title="img_3331" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3331-150x150.jpg" alt="Grandad" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Grandad</p></div>
<p>Various pictures of our boys on one page; both Grandads on the other – paternal (Don) on the left and maternal (David) on the right. &#8216;Then and Now&#8217; shows my &#8216;baby&#8217; with his big cousin many years ago and then more recently with his now &#8216;not so big&#8217; cousin! The other page shows the house we lived in when in California and our &#8216;now&#8217; home in Wales.</p>
<h6>Brothers</h6>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<div id="attachment_1136" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_11" rel="attachment wp-att-1136" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3330.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1136" title="img_3330" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3330-150x150.jpg" alt="Brothers" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Brothers</p></div>
<div id="attachment_1139" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_12" rel="attachment wp-att-1139" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3319.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1139" title="img_3319" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3319-150x150.jpg" alt="Brothers again" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Brothers again</p></div>
<p>There are only a couple of years between the boys so they grew up as good friends – mostly! On the left you see them in their kilts at that wedding Imentioned earlier; on a horse in the field next to our house; walking with Grandad and Uncle Roy; mowing the grass; making friends with a seagul and sitting in our back yard in California.</p>
<h6>My Family</h6>
<div id="attachment_1148" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_13" rel="attachment wp-att-1148" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3324.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1148" title="img_3324" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3324-150x150.jpg" alt="My Family" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">My Family</p></div>
<div id="attachment_1149" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_14" rel="attachment wp-att-1149" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3328.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1149" title="img_3328" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3328-150x150.jpg" alt="Her Family" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Her Family</p></div>
<p>My M-i-L was very fond of my parents so I included them on a couple of pages. The next double spread shows her side of the family.</p>
<h6>True Love</h6>
<div id="attachment_1159" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a class="highslide img_15" rel="attachment wp-att-1159" href="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3327.jpg" onclick="return hs.expand(this)"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1159" title="img_3327" src="http://www.craftyjo.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img_3327-150x150.jpg" alt="True Love" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">True Love</p></div>
<p>M-i-L was a bridesmaid for one of her sisters and <em>she </em>is just about to celebrate her diamond wedding!</p>
<p>I really loved doing this scrapbook and found it wasn&#8217;t really frightening at all! In fact, I <em>almost </em>wished that the pages <em>were </em>12&#215;12 at times as I struggled to fit everything I wanted to put on there. I&#8217;ve got ideas and supplies for many more of these, plan to make one each for my boys who wont appreciate them at the moment but should hopefully enjoy them when they&#8217;re older.</p>
