Time for the Holiday Tag Blog Hop! There are 13 blogs to visit and you should have come here from Mike’s – if you get lost then please go back to Hetty’s Blog and you’ll find all the links there. You’ll find the scavenger hunt letter you’re searching for at the bottom of the post – find them all, make a wish and send your answer privately by email to Hetty (not in the comments please). A winner for a Michael Strong Stamp will be chosen on Wednesday, December 7th.

My first step was to study my Strong Stamps and pick a suitable Christmas one! Hmm…. I don’t actually have one so I had to be inventive. I’m going to add photos below, please click on each and you’ll find a description of the thought process and the actual techniques used. We only had to make one but I got a little carried away – although three are similar the last one is quite different (apart from the fibres used :)).

Nothing very Christmassy here!

Stamp choice

Does this look like a Christmas Tree?
Made a mask from a Post-it

Layered up on the practice paper

Can you see the tree taking shape?

This is going to need a stamp positioner for sure!

Stamp positioning

Kraft Tag
Stamped with black ink onto a Kraft tag - note to self.....dry the ink between masking!

Tree stamped

A few snowflakes and a cute star - I wonder if you can tell what the base of the tree is stamped with?

Look at all the pens I used to colour this! A picture speaks a thousand words, or lists a bunch of markers.

Layered on green and then black card, a Spellbinder Poinsettia and a cute little candycane to finish.

Black Tags
Brilliance Galaxy Gold looks rather sumptuous on this black tag

Gold on black

Same style as the previous tag but with a mini-tree as well

I added a snowfall with a gold pen and started to outline the tree - then realised I didn't like that :(

So I tried to rescue it with Stickles, think maybe I got away with it!

So I made a second version and added a poinsettia to this one.

Second black tag

I stamped the circle onto an oval piece of Stampbord - the Cropadile bit through this sooooo easily

Oval Stampbord

The outer edges were coloured with Fired Brick Distress Ink

Red colouring

I then pressed this ink pad all over the tag

It adds a lovely sheen to the red base

I stamped a small Stampboard shape to practise with - didn't really like the vivid colours of the inks I used

Too gaudy

I scratched some swirls, scratched into the black bits and used the green metallic brush pen

Red metallic pen, more scratching, same fibres as the others and it's done
